Kochi, India - February 2008: Southern Naval Command of the Indian Navy contracts Assyst to design and develop the Maintenance Management System, a software application to record and track maintenance activities at the Yard Service Center (YSC) and the workshops managed by the YSC. The application will record the maintenance activities will help the Navy to monitor the activities of the tradesmen, as well as to take measures to prevent breakdowns. The application will cover two major tasks being carried out by the YSC - namely, Periodic Preventive Maintenance and Breakdown Maintenance.
Officers at YSC and the Naval Ship Repair Yard will use the application to monitor the activities of their respective centers. Records of these activities will help the officers take appropriate decisions as and when required. Security features will be incorporated into the application to prevent unauthorized editing of recorded data and to ensure users have access to current and accurate data.
The Southern Naval Command, with its headquarter in Cochin (Kochi), is Indian Navy's main training command and is equipped with professional naval establishments, a naval air station, and a ship repair yard. The base also undertakes training of naval and coast guard personnel in all aspects of naval missile and gunnery systems.
