Kochi, India - July 2009: Cochin Shipyard Ltd., a Central Government undertaking, is building a warship for the Indian Navy. The Navy’s Warship Overseeing Team (WOT) is monitoring the construction on site, and is responsible for ensuring quality of build and timely completion of the project.
The Navy has contracted Assyst to develop an application that will help WOT in carrying out day-to-day activities like monitoring material intake, conducting quality check on materials, carrying out various types of inspections, administration, library management and report generation.
The application is being built on the Open Source platform adhering to internationally accepted standards, and will allow rapid aggregation and consolidation of data. It will also allow smooth and seamless integration with other information systems and functions within the organization if and when desired.
